If you think prostate cancer isn’t that serious, think again. It’s among the most serious killers among men all over the world. Many people have died from this cancer and sadly – many more will die from it, unless more is done in the area of early detection and early treatment. If you still don’t think it’s a serious killer, the below statistics should do it for you:
• The second leading cause of cancer death in men, who live in the United States and Canada, after lung cancer, is prostate cancer.
• According to the American Cancer Society, there are about 180,000 new prostate cancer cases that are being diagnosed annually in the United States.
• According to this same American Cancer Society, about 32,000 men now die from prostate cancer each year in the United States alone.
• According to the Canadian Cancer Society (the Canadian equivalent of the American Cancer Society), 16,900 males are diagnosed with prostate cancer each and every year.
• Also according to the Canadian Cancer Society, there are about 4,200 recorded deaths from prostate cancer each and every year.
From the above you can see that prostate cancer is indeed a very serious disease that shouldn’t be treated with kid gloves. Many people still turn the deaf ear when they hear talks about prostate cancer. They think it can’t happen to them because of one factor or the other. But the fact remains that no one is immune from prostate cancer.
The best you can do is be on the alert so that if it happens to you, it can be detected and treated from the onset. This way you have a very high likelihood of surviving prostate cancer.
