Chief of Urologic Oncology at CINJ reaches a Milestone in Robotic Prostate Cancer Surgery
The chief of urologic oncology at the Cancer Institute of New Jersey (CINJ) Isaac Kim has successfully completed a 1000th robotic prostate cancer surgery on man from Newark.
This is a milestone reached by the urological oncologist who also doubles as MD, PhD and associate professor of surgery at the Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital (RWJUH).
The news here is that this doctor utilizes one of the best minimally invasive surgical approaches to help treat prostate cancer successfully.
Robotic surgery is safer, faster and results to minimal incisions when a person is treated with the procedure. It involves the use of computer-aid robot to get rid of cancer which has originated from the prostate gland.
This feat achieved by the doctor is worthy of mention since this is the 1000th times he has applied it to save the lives of men.

Commenting on his experiences in the times he has used surgery to get rid of prostate cancer, Dr. Kim noted that: “During the seven year period during which I performed my 1,000 procedures, the blood transfusion rate was only 0.3 percent and the duration of the hospital stay was only one day in 95 percent of the patients. Simultaneously, rate of recovery of urinary continence and sexual function remain high,”
